Honestly don't buy one. The transmission is notorious for having issues. Just look at all the discussions on here. They are all about these parts failing, and having to deal with being on a waiting list for a new TCU, some people have been waiting for months and months, desperate for their car to work again.
Ihave a 2013 SE, also with the 5-speed. This thing is the textbook, dictionary definition, absolute shining star example of a fun shitbox. What it lacks in power it more than makes up for in its ability to maintain speed through a corner. I hate to use such an overused buzzword, but this gen Focus is really "tossable". Great chassis on it.
Itis very important that the fluid be drained and changed every 30K miles beginning at 60K miles. If this has not been done I would be concerned about the transmission because at the current 130K miles on the car it is probably too late to start changing the fluid. This! Those things are sensitive.
